I used to watch Sat morning cartoons all the time when I was a kid...Road Runner, Wylie Coyote, Bugs Bunny, Tom & Jerry...none of these guys ever effected me in a negative way. My brother, my friends and I .... we all knew they were just cartoons...meant to be funny....not violent!

Most importantly: they were NOT REAL!!!

By the way...I did receive a fairly decent education in classical music while watching all those cartoons...classical music was the background for most of those animations!

I think if kids are taught the cartoons are just entertainment...not real...not meant to be taken as a way to solve your problems in life, there is no problem.

No, I do not think those cartoons of the 50's, 60's 70's influenced children's behavior. I think what influences children's behavior is the fact that their PARENTS do not set expectations as to what is acceptable and UNACCEPTABLE behavior!

Yes, definitely. It's up to parents to make sure kids don't watch certain cartoons that have bad language/scenes. There are cartoons like that. A problem some parents have is that they assume that all cartoons are safe. To tell you the truth, many have teenager/adult related topics things like a teen's first date.

Cartoons may affect a growing child, it all depends on the childs age and maturity. If the child is young and immature, in a way, then violent cartoons and such may have an adverse affect on them. Grown up kids have a little firmer understanding of life, and aren't affected as much.

the cartoon is seen there for you have visualized, and fives sense are on board to alway use input. cartoons are something of a happiness in their in therapy. As you are questioning this you have to stand back and see the bigger picture of what is the highs and lows of the child and how do they get there okay. writing your thoughts can be retrived as information when time goes by and you have to analize the data over a period of time and people and diet.

Of course. That's why kids are so corrupted nowadays. Cartoons now have sex jokes and cruel behavior. The future generation is going down the hole.

Yes, they do, limit the exposure, there are other things for kids to spend their time with, playing with toys where they use their own imagination, not reruns of a storyline they saw on a cartoon.

Yes, but then again, movies adults watch affects them too.

Researchers determine that an affect of a movie last a couple of days, but I guess if you watch the same sex-based stuff, you're perception will be permenantly 'scarred' in that direction.
