Just for clarity...This is not about coming out or any one situation. It is posted here, because the last time I checked I was gay!

Perhaps the reason you face challenges communicating your true feelings to the guys you truly love and value; might be based upon rejection. However; more than likely that special person might mutually feel the same way. Start with small expressions; and work your way to the more serious thoughts and feelings. Lastly remember; nothing ventured nothing gain and nothing beats a failure but a try.

I'd look for this book in the library and see if it helps. It's sure helping me!

Is it really that you have problems expressing yourself or is it that people do not respond to you in the way you would wish them to?

If you have expectations then your love is conditional, and you cannot expect anyone to feel exactally the way about you that you feel about them.

You can always tell someone you love them, just don't expect them to love you back. If they are kind, they will not make light of your affections or in anyway degrade you. If they do any of these things, then I think you need to re-evaluate who you love and why.

Take it in small bites with someone you trust and who really listens to you and appreciates that this doesn't come easy to you. If you're still struggling with this after trying a variety of ways to be more open, try talking to a therapist - sometimes things are easier to deal with when you're not trying to solve your own life challenges alone. Good luck.

Write it in a letter. It is something they will have to always remember you by and the good thing is to type it first and reread it several times to make sure it says what you want it to say then hand write it. Handwritten letters mean more.

My boyfriend and I have learned to email each other about things that maybe a little stressful...It works great and I usually wait 24 hours before I send something or respond....sometimes you need that cooling off period....

I think randy and stacia gave you really good answers...and a really good starting point to address the issue...But it sounds like you've already found a great starting point..just by realizing that you have a problem.

It may sound foolish, but it could be worth a try.

Try video taping yourself. Say whatever it is to the person you are thinking about and say it to the camera.

Practice disclosing your feelings.
Also, practice learning how to do so in a way that doesn't conjure defensiveness in the person you are disclosing to.

If you were sure their love was unconditional you would not have this problem. Be true to yourself, it is not healthy to hide your true feelings.
