Both prohibitions are working directly contrary to the concept of capitalism. If people want to buy it and someone wants to sell it, what's the problem?

Good topic, you will have tons of info for this. I happen to believe that by placing both of these issues in a strickly illegal catagory you are only creating the taboo that currently surrounds both. People are going to do drugs and likewise people are going to have the same urges for sex. Some of these people will seek out fulfilment in what is now deemed illegal practices. Drugs particularly Marijuana are illegal because they have no way of regulating a potency level for them. Not to mention the uproar that would be created by allowing their legal use. I happen to believe that with the technology available to us as a nation, we could create a system of guaging the potency levels of these drugs. They could then be legalized and distributed by the government that is regulating its potency level in the first place. Money could be made for schools, medicare, social security, ect. The only reason the taboo exist around drugs in the first place is because it has been placed there by the very government that could profit from it sale, its a self defeating process. Prostitution is another issue. The taboo around this goes back much farther into our history. People seem to have trouble with the fact that humans are going to have sex, and they will reguardless. So why not make it safe? Why not make it a business that can be regulated. Whole industries are expected to opperate there businesses on certin guidelines. Why should this be any different. You could eleminate the spread of STDs by implementing safty guidlines and health regulations. And to look at it from a capitalistic point of view, tons of money could be made! Because wheather we like it or not people will ALWAYS do drugs and people will ALWAYS want sex, why not make it safe and profitable.

If prostitution were legalized, it could be regulated. The women could be required to be tested for STDs on a regular basis and made to use condoms. This is the way they do it in Holland and it seems to work very well.

Both are victimless crimes that turn otherwise law-abiding citizens into criminals and introduce them to the underworld. Both should be legalized!
