LOL I think they get sucked into the vent ,but to stop this from happening put socks in a mesh bag like you would use for panty hose ans presto!!!

Because you didn't pin them together. I got tired of putting two socks in and only taking one out that I bought a package of safety pins and when I take my socks off, they are pinned together before they go in the hamper.

If you wash them w/ top clothes, sometimes they get inside the top clothes. You'll find them eventually.
