Songs that say things like "all this wishing I was dead is gettin' old, it's gettin' old, it goes on but it's old," or "I've been jumping over rivers, I've been sleeping in the street, Mr. Jones will be with you if you'd just take a seat. I'll meet you by the river when we both can clear our heads, I think we'd look great dead." Another is"A chainsaw can remove a limb or act as a replacement, Smell the gas as hours pass, contrary to my statement, The corpses wish to cover me with kisses, So just maybe I'll cover this cabin with their blood."

The line "all this wishing I was dead is gettin' old, it's gettin' old, it goes on but it's old," is by mewithoutYou and they are a Christian band. He is asking for Gods help in that line. The line "I've been jumping over rivers, I've been sleeping in the street, Mr. Jones will be with you if you'd just take a seat. I'll meet you by the river when we both can clear our heads, I think we'd look great dead." is by He is Legend and they are Christian as well. Those bands are ok, you just found the lines that seem bad, but they are just using negative lines to make a positive statement. Don't take those lines literaly, their are very good Christian lines in their songs as well. If you don't beleive me look it up on Wikipedia.

No. It is very important to guard your mind. What you think on and focus on has great power in affecting how you see the world. For example, if you read a book about someone who becomes a success against incredible odds, it goes a long way towards motivating you to work harder and keep trying at something that is difficult. Focusing your thoughts on people who are contemplating suicide or who talk about death in positive terms brings with it the risk that in a time of depression, suicide and death might seem like positive alternatives.

I teach my kids that principle and encourage them to choose things that are healthy, encouraging, and beneficial to listen to, watch, read, and otherwise focus on. I let them choose and explain why they made the choices they did. They take this responsibility very seriously. My kids will walk out of a movie (and ask for their money back) if they get in and find it is "inappropriate." They are becoming good guardians of their own minds, but not without some coaching from me and their dad.

I think as a parent you have a responsibility to protect and educate your children, If you feel its inappropriate for your child then you should not let them listen to it. I wouldn't. Most of these musicians have no clue how much influence they have on our children..

Get them away from that music and forbid them to own it. And don't listen to the liberals and teenagers here who say "they'll listen to it anyway" (typical liberal argument).

If they have a supply of tapes or CD's, grab and throw them out today.
