I'm no expert but it seems that if they used more guys & more water, then the fires wouldn't get so out-of-control. (If nothing else, why not the National Guard to help out?) Also, why don't those people with those beautiful homes cut down the trees near their house so the fire would have to go around their house & not burn it? If they gotta have shade, they could build some metal artificial trees!

Firstly, there are only so many firefighters and firefighting equipment to go around. Sure they could pull thousands to go and fight wildfires, but then who would be there to take care of you if you were in an accident or if your house caught on fire.

Secondly, man is not mightier than Mother Nature. Everyone wants a nice yard with nice lawn and trees, and why shouldn't they have it? People living in areas subject to wildfires have been given a lot of instruction on what the requirements are for clearing brush around their properties, but in the end you can only mitigate the danger because Nature is a Mother.

Thirdly, it is actually necessary for wildfires to burn. These fires actually assist the healthy growth of plant life by rejuvenating the areas they burn by clearing out the dead growth, fertilizing the soil, and making way for new plants.

Well, I know very little about the logistics. But it seems to me that nobody lives in those areas except lots of wealthy people. Firemen are not wealthy and don't live there.
