She might have an ovarian cyst, PCOS (polycystic ovarian sydrome), a sexually transmitted disease, an eating disorder, be an extreme athlete, be under terrible terrible stress, have a hormone imbalance, be going through menopause (you don't say how old she is), etc., etc. There could be lots of other reasons, in other words. The key question is: did she have unprotected sex when she might be ovulating? Also, are her periods usually regular every month?

At any rate, your friend should schedule an appointment with your doctor right away to get checked out. Don't wait! It could be something serious, and if she is pregnant, she needs good prenatal care. In the meantime, go the drug store or grocery store and buy a home pregnancy test & follow the instructions carefuly. That should help give you some answers

If she is starving her self, maybe it could be that! Teens who have anorexia or who play vigorous sports, like gymnastics; sometimes stop their periods altogether! Even bulimia could be the culprit!!! Especially if she takes diuretics too! She needs to go to the doctor. Maybe a free clinic. She could even start by talking to her school counselor, or something. I'm assuming, she is a teen.I hope she gets help!

Its not likely but there are rare cases. Is she under a lot of stress? Did she jsut start somethign like depo? Your best bet is to take a pregnancy test, as if she is pregnant she should be on prenatal vitamins and having prenatal care.

She could be very malnourished. Or, if she exercises a lot- some long distance runners don't menstruate. And sometimes people that are losing weight don't menstruate.
