I had my trial stopped and was ordered to hire a private atty because I live with my girlfriend in florida! Says she should help pay for private atty,and when the trial resumes I could be forced to go to trial without council

if you live in florida nj doesn't have jurisdiction over you. and yes you need to have an attorney anyway.

Basically, the judge determined that you did have money, and were thus not eligible for a private attorney.

But if the judge orders you to go to trial without an attorney, that's almost guaranteed grounds for reversal on appeal. No judge is actually going to be that stupid, as to deny you counsel.

What might happen is that you get appointed counsel, and then you get handed a bill afterwards if they think you can pay it.
