My daughter had one today at 16 wks and was told it was a girl, so I was wondering if I can start buying girl clothes or is there a big chance he is wrong.

Usually boys will show their "parts"routinely at around 16 weeks.I hesitate to
diagnose girls until about 25 weeks when the labia begins
to swell. These are still just approximate datelines-boys can still hide things, also depends on amount of amniotic fluid,if
the legs are crossed,etc.

i had 3 children and 3 ultrasounds, all showed a boy. Imagine our surprise when our 3rd child was a tiny baby girl.So i guess the answer is no. they are not always accurate

most of the time they are accurate but not all the time. when my daughter was born 28 years ago, I had one done and they said she was a boy. so you can not go by them all the time.

depends on the education of the sonographer...mine was 100% right.. also it depends on if the baby will allow it or not..
