I mean really that is what we are. just like white people are white. Why do others think this term offends us so they have to use terms like "african americans". That's the one that is crazy not "black people". If you are a black person and you are offended by this let me know.

I actually prefer to be called black than African American. I find the term to be ignorant. What if you aren't American? There are black people in France, England, Canada, Germany, Ireland, you name it. What are they? Non entities? If you are not American, how can you be African American?

It wouldn't offend me, either. No more then someone calling me a "white person". I actually like the term "black" better then "african american" because it just sounds better.

Because they probably got chewed out over calling someone black instead of african american and they think they have to say that to all black people. I really think that's the case for most of them.

Just the whole politically correct such, and the offended must have issues already to let that get to them, hey we have came a long ways, from being called colored and you know know what else! I think people that let it offend them think to themselves why are I being single out by my race, why does it matter?

Actually, I thought it was the silliest thing I have ever heard, when the "black leaders" decided that they "now" want all blacks to be called African Americans!

It wasnt the "whites" who wanted to call blacks, African Americans.

It seems kind of silly to me, because I dont want to be called and Italian American, or how about people who have multinational heritage? They have to becalled Polish-Scotch-Italian-Dutch Americans? It would get REAL confusting after awhile I think...

I wish you well..

look. any time i have EVER heard a black on TV talk about other BLACKS. they refer to them as African American. it is such BS.. pure and simple. so please dont sit and tell me that blacks dont use this. it is their own form of self segregation. .. but then it seems they like to blame whitey becuase he is holding them back. whatever.
