Because they live in a dumbed-down, consumerist society which encourages people to gawp at rubbish on the TV and a very small minority of intelligent people break away and ask the question on an internet forum, "Why do ppl get bored so easily?".

It's all due to the unbearable lightness of being. First coined by Milan Kundera, the unbearable lightness of being is a heavy philosophical concept of the human condition. To sum it up very simply, we're not able to feel comfortable just being because every decision is meaningless and insignificant. Therefore, we get bored and disillusioned with ourselves - great, now I'm bored.

they put all their energy into diving into things to relieve boredom and no energy into finding out what excites and fulfills THEM in particular -
just throwing activities at an individual in the hope of striking something satisfying is hopeless: because even if you do do something that would satisfy you, you are not awake enough to who you are to notice - even if the right satisfaction is there, the person is still asleep inside
you have to explore yourself, your likes and dislikes your personality, what fulfills you what doesnt grab you
just throwing activities at a sleeping person is like throwing coins everywhere in the hope of filling a cup with coins
infinitely more efficient to locate the cup and aim at it
dont go out, go in
sit around with your friends and discuss careers, why you would like some job, why you wouldnt like some job - feel yourself out - and have the courage to be unique, special, different - the ones who arent different are just the ones who havent found themselves and are copying the other people who havent found themselves, all seeming so busy so alive and really really dead - the robots of copying each other - the ones with no experience of the self

There are so many things vying for our attention these days, it become difficult to focus completely on one thing to it's completion. Social demands, emotional quest, growing demand in in all professional walks of life pull our focus....Aw, heck! I'm rambling again. What was the topic?

they have no interest in what's going on -- you cant account for taste.
my wife gets really bored at the same concert that I'm going crazy at -- and vice versa.
