I am 20 weeks pregnant, and I just barley stopped bleeding. Thank goodness. But my situation is a little different, but mabey the same? I had two healthy girls 4 and 5 years of age. But after I had a bad streak. I had 3 miscarrages, one of them ending in a miltiple D&C's. (2 to be exact) so I am not sure if that is what caused bleeding, but my doctor said it is not the reason. But anyway, I am now 20 weeks pregnant and Bleed up until week 18. It really sucked. I thought I was going to loose this baby, but I am glad I didn't. Oh and I did not know until I was sick with morning sickness and went to the er for a flu in the middle of summer.

this is a good site for more information:

First off, it's not a period. Period's only occur when the egg is not fertilized and then it is disposed of along with uterus lining. I bled throughout my pregnancy, and it ended up that I had placenta previa, which is when the placenta implants way too low and covers part, or all of the cervix. Luckily it reslolved in the last few weeks and I had a normal vaginal delivery with no complications. Bleeding when pregnant, that is not from implantation is condidered to be a "threatened miscarriage' and is to be taken serious. It should always be reported to your doctor ASAP.

I personally don't understand how a women can have her period while pregnant. I just can't understand that.
Having your period is having the uterus wall shedding. Now if a women is pregnant and her uterus wall is shedding, then how can she be pregnant? She can't.
I hope you get someone who is a nurse or doctor to answer your question so we can both know the truth.

My friend had heavy bleeding until her 7th month with just about all of her kids! So it happens!

Good question. I have no answer, but it does defy logic. Maybe they're like "abductees": just seeking attention?

its rather impossible for a woman to be having their period cycle while she is pregnant. Perhaps they were mistiaking it for spotting..
