I believe that marijuana should just be legal period. It was only made illegal as a way of driving out Mexican migrant workers without looking racist and to help cotton farmers and the DuPont corporation by removing competition in the textiles market.

There's nothing in the constitution that gives the federal government the right to criminalize marijuana, that's why it's officially a "regulated" drug, even though it's impossible to get the license to own marijuana.

In the hippy days the pot that was smoked was "organic" so to speak, and thus it was not harmful. The pot now-a-days is grown in some dirtbag's closet under a blacklight. I don't think that is exactly the same thing. If it was legalized, yes, the growing would be regulated, but do any of us really believe it would be as "harmless" as it was back in the day? It would be filled with chemicals and all sorts of stuff that would make it even more unhealthy than it already is.

No is what I say.

It should have happened a long time ago. Also recreational marijuana should be decriminalized. Other civilized countries treat drug abuse with treatment, not jail time. Most of the people in US jails are there on drug-related charges. Let's lock up the violent criminals instead. I was severely beaten & trapped in a room all night & had my life & the lives of my family & friends threatened. Guess how long he got? FIVE WEEKS!!! I'd rather have someone like that locked up than someone who smokes a joint.

legalize it. Did you know that doctors may prescribe cocaine or morphine but not marijuana? I think it is long past due and many states are moving towards the compassionate answer. To be fair, I am also for decriminalizing marijuana for adult consumption.

They already have legalized forms of heroin (morphine). I fail to see the logic of saying marijuana can never be used in a medical setting if they allow other, much more dangerous drugs.

Just another source of revenue the government would squander. You will have your misfits for sure, but it is no worse than alcohol. Maybe if the country can get alcohol abuse under control, then we will think about legalizing another drug huh?

More studies are needed. Translation: the worst thing they can find is that you eat a lot of cookie dough.

If alcohol and tobacco are legal, then anything less harmful and addictive should be as well.

It would cut down on a lot of crime and give the Govt an oppurtunity to regulate it.
