Go to your local music store and get into the Bluegrass and Appalachian music. You will probably have to go to a specialty store, as places like Wal Mart don't have a big selection of this music. A place like Tower Records would be good. Maybe even Best Buy. Amazon.com probably has a lot too, but since the event is this weekend, you probably won't have time to get it. Any CD of bluegrass standards (Bill Monroe, Earl Scruggs, etc) will be fine.

I would suggest anything by Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. Also anything by Asleep At the Wheel and the Kentucky Head Hunters. If you want to go real old, try Ernest Tubb. For Blue Grass, Flatt and Skruggs and Ricky Skaggs. Also BR549 and the Old Crow Medicine Show. Hope it helps.

If you want music for a hoedown, you don't want country and western. You want bluegrass with a lot of fiddle tunes, banjo, mandolin and guitar.
