I just purchased the sheet music for The Devil Went Down to Georgia for my daughter, who has been playing violin for the past three years. I, however, am clueless of the instrument. I was wondering if that song will be hard for her to play. She can read music, and all the songs she knows are pretty simple.

Never know until she tries. She might surprise you if you let her. (BTW, a violin and fiddle are the SAME instrument, just different playing styles)

It's probably a pretty hard song.In the song by Charlie Daniels it is considered a fiddle, not a violin. They are the same as far as I know. But it has a lot of hard fast licks in it.It would be fun to play though.

It is a somewhat difficult song to play, but if she practices it (and doesn't get frustrated about it - if she does, have her take a break) it will help her play a little better, but I would try and find some other songs that are a little slower paced if she is still playing pretty simple songs.

It's some pretty tough stuff. I know some high school students who have a hard time playing it. If she practices really hard, she could probably play it. If she doesn't already have private lessons, i would suggest it if she really wants to learn to play this song.

The Devil Went Down To Jamaica is funnier.

Well, it depends on how advanced she is in it. I've been playing the viola for almost 4 years, and the violins in my orchestra class, well, the majority of them, I'd doubt would be able to play it. But it mainly depends on her teacher and what she knows how to play

Have you ever heard or seen Charlie Daniels do it? It's great, but ti looks really tough. I hope she's really good.

Chartneck is right. They are the same instrument, just different styles of playing.

The fiddle part for that song is tough. I'm not saying she won't be able to play it but it will take some practice.
