I have started illustrating and creating a comic book for my editor, she asked me to do it but does not know what to pay and I don't know either.

when a book is as much f not more picture than words..... then the illustrator should be getting an equal percentage of the profits with the author. it should be royalty based. though sometimes they can offer a once only payment I would not accept such an arrangement unless you think it is the best opition for you.
I would ask for 10% of the royalties at least.
