Good question. Set up an experiment. At the next football game, have no band and no cheerleading but charge admission. Then, set up a band concert with not football and no cheerleading but charge admission. Then set up cheerleading with no band and no football and charge admission. Split the proceeds of all your football bames in proportion to the ticket sales at each of the events.

Yes, the only reason I go to football games is to see the marching band. Also, marching bands DON'T generally have concerts, so they don't get money from the public. Marching band expenses are paid out of pocket or through a lot of fundraising, and things like instruments, wool uniforms, and sheet music are all expensive. Plus in most high schools there are more oppertunities for the athletic boosters to make money than the band boosters.

Why should it benefit for the band and cheerleaders too?
The band has it's own concerts; they are just there to support the team.
Cheerleaders are there to support the team.
They aren't being paid to do it. I think to say that that proceeds would go to everyone involved is just unrealistic.

I think the parent and student show up for their friends in whicheve group they are in so the even split would be by number of kidds in each group. That would probably still give more to the football players as they are ushaly the largest group on the field.

Sure they should-----usually all athletic monies are deposited into one fund and then each team sport receives a percentage.

They probably are to an extent, but if not they should get a small percentage. It doesn't take nearly as much to operate them.
