Make sure that your firewall permits 2 way traffic. You are on the net right now, so I think you are not understadning this situation correctly.

Problem may be : U or the owner installed Norton without proper licence. Norton (or other firms) embed codes that cause such problems
So, if you are sure you have a licence valid for your PC, uninstall
the software and reinstall again.
If still persisting buy another antivirus, such as AVG Antivirus,
Kaspersky, Panda, but always make sure to have a valid licence.
I favour NOD 32 and AVG Antivirus.
Symantec (Norton) adds hundreds of registry keys in your system and takes a lot of resources.
If you want to uninstall run a registry cleaner program like
WIN XP Manager, but not Registry Mechanic.
Another good software is WIN RESCUE XP.

I think the best solution to your problem is delete Norton antivirus, if you can, they have so much security junk that if it is not installed properly or your computer is not up to par, it is almost impossible to get rid of Norton compelety and it conflicts with other programs. I use ( AVG 7.1 Professional Anti-Virus ) updates regular and reasonable, check it out on the net.

Get rid of Norton Antivirus, it is not as effective as a free program like AVG and besides Norton Antivirus is a resource hog, AVG isn't. Download AVG free from the following page:

Just one more case of problems with Norton. How many times do people have to read on here about problems with or caused by Norton for them to realise not to use it. Use an alternative.

I've been updating mine regularly, just did today actually, and haven't found any problems. It's most likely an issue with your internet connection I think, or your computer. Try switching everything off and then turn it on again, sounds silly but it always seems to work... failing that troubleshoot your connection, check in control panel to see if everything is working properly.

At a guess click on Norton and open up the control panel - click on personal firewall - click on configure - click on programs - click on all the icons and permit all and try. Then work through blocking the ones you want blocked after you connect

hi, try a more secure browser.
i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.
besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.
firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.
download firefox for free:
