I've been there a few times several years ago, no pictures though. People in neighboring states like MD go there for shopping in the branded outlets, where they have Ralph Lauren, GAP, Guess, Banana Republic, Kenneth cole and the like. It's a quaint place where you can see the occasional Amish or Menonites. If you're expecting a busy city, then it's not it. Along the way there are corn and soya fields. Laid back and slow lifestyle which is heaven if you don't like the noisy, confusing and fast paced city life.

I lived in York one summer and probably would have liked Lancaster better, but it was far from my church. Small place, but biggest city in the area. It was near Amish country. It seemed to be like "Any town USA", an all american type of town with people who sit on their porches in the summer and watch fireflies/talk with their neighbors, that kind of thing.

Lancaster is a great place to live. There are so many sights to see, things to do and it is beautiful there. I think you will like it.
