We had a really good new year's eve party a few years ago, which we decided would be fancy dress, and we chose the letter P as our theme. We had a pancreas, a Princess Leia (male!), a politician, Patsy (Ab Fab), a Pochahontas, a Playboy Bunny and many more. Everybody really enjoyed it. I think characters from literature or pop stars are really good themes as well.

Warner Brothers Cartoons, costumes based on Turner Prize Winners creations, Felix the Cat (yeah, they'll have to do some research, but that makes everything more interesting.)famous cats in history, characters from Terry Pratchett - I'll stop now. Send me an invite!

Def an 80s party, I know it's a bit 'over-done' but my mate had one for her 25th birthday a couple of months ago and it was one of the best parties esp as we're all late 20s/early 30s ... I went dressed as a rubics cube, pretty easy to make and went down well!

How about an 80's theme, 1780's fancy dress, 1880's food and 1980's music.

Ok for a bounch of 25- 30 year old adults in a London house for halloween. Try Alice Cooper's "Welcome to my Nightmare" you can even dress the house with his as the theme.

I think old cartoons form the 60's to the the early 80's would be great. Or you could do Old TV shows form time period. The three stooges. I love Lucy Many More.

I went to a party once where everyone was supposed to dress as their favorite literary character. It was short notice for me so I pulled together Hester Prynn from "The Scarlet Letter" (an easy costume)
