I have had three miscarriages. I have two girls and a boy on the way. But when I had a miscarriage(depending on how far along you are) If you are not very far a long, they will send you home and most of the tissue you can pass on your own. If not all of it. and they will do a ultrasound to make sure all of the bad tissues have left your body. If this is your case, then you will experience period like symptoms except for you will bleed a little heavier and the bleeding will contain blood clots. Some of them golf ball size and bigger. If you are say..three months along, then you will more than likely have to have a d&c done. (refer to web site below) During this procedure, they will knock you out and take you into surgery. You will not remember any of it, and when you wake up, you might pass a clot or two, but most will be a regular peroid. I am sorry for the loss you may have had.

first they do an internal to check if there is really a miscarriage, and to see if there is any tissue left. then they either send you home with some pain meds and instructionsto come back if the paingets worse or you develop a fever, or they admit you for a D & C which will scrape any remaining tissue out of your uterus, They have to sedate you for that, then they will send you home, usually the next day, with the same instructions.
