The focus of most environmnetal legislation in the United States is the quality of the air, the quality of the water and and the level of contamination in soils.
The reason for the government's focus on these factors is obvious: human beings cannot live healthy if they do not have clean water to drink, clean air to breathe, and are surrounded by toxic chemicals in the ground.
I would like to add another component to environmnetal law concerning human health concerns: the nature of our built environment. I find mental health and the quality of life affected profoundly by other non-natural factors of our environment. Namely, I believe that human health is put at risk by too many vehicles in one area, by over- population and over-development.
