I've been in the past and it didn't last. I may sound a pessimist but at this day and age, it could be a difficult situation. However, it would depend on the level of commitment and trust you have for each other. If you have that kind of commitment that you'll remain faithful to each other and fight off temptation while separated, then it could work. It could be tough though if intimacy is a necessary part of your lives and staying celibate for 10 or so months could be impossible. This matter can strain the relationship and sooner or later, one or both of you would have another relationship, serious or not. So, it would be easier for both of you to make this clear what you or her can accept that may happen. It could be a case of either, distance can make the heart grow fonder or the eyes to wander.

You're both young, so this situation would be a litmus test of your relationship and commitment to each other.

Long distance relationships are tough, but knowing it's just temporary could make a difference...especially if the relationship is strong before you two are separated...with phones and computers today, you'll be able to communicate regularly where just a few years ago, it wouldn't have been as easy...

Think about it...military couples go through separations like you're about to, all the time...

It'll work if y'all want it to work, and the relationship has a good foundation...

Good luck...

Do yourselves both a favor.. agree to date others while apart but remain friends.. if it is meant to last it will.. but don't put any pressures on each other..
