I've been there, man, and all you have to do is prove you're good at your job and no amount of gossip will endanger it. As for the harassing, befriend their enemies and wait until they make a mistake to convince your boss the company will be better without them.

Just Ignore them..If they ask U a question answer it and be on your way but be very polite it will make them wonder lol.I know people like this & I just stay away from them it works for me the only time I actually talk with them is if it concerns work otherwise I don't feed into their need for gossip

As far as people talking behind your back. The best thing is to confront them about it. Tell them if it makes them happy to continue, but make sure you also tell them that it does not bother you at all. If they are talking about you then at least they are leaving other people alone.
And as far as the people at work have you tried talking to management. That can do wonders also let the people know that it does not bother you if it continues and you can not handle it I would suggest finding another job. But if you can handle it then ignore them or give them back a little bit of their own medicine alot of people who dish it can;t handle it being thrown back at them.

The whole idea of talking behind someones back is that he DOESN'T know it.Let them know that you are aware of everything they are saying but without revealing your source.Comment on the remarks they made behind your back and give them answers.Make them believe that you always know what they say about you ,even if you don't want to "expose" them.
They will be embarrassed ,everyone will know what they are doing and they will distrust each other.
They will shut up.

Never tell them anything. They'll run out of things to gossip about. When they start repeating themselves, they'll look bad.
By the way, I think being kind to them as other people have said will only be abused by them. The first thing to stop the abuse is to reduce your exposure and opportunity for them to hurt you.

Sheri, you should know that mean people are mean to you because they like the reaction that you give them. If you learn not to react they will move on to someone that will feed their needs. If you are in danger at work then you should let management know.
Good luck!

Please think about getting yourself out of such a toxic environment. That can not be good for you. Make an escape plan. I'll start digging if you will. :)

Kill them with kindness. Act like they don't bother you with their negative statements and continue to do your job. If they think they're not bothering you, they'll give up and start annoying someone else.

Every work place has 2 face people
Next time they talk behind your back, say this,
Hey when you go out to lunch today, get 2 lunches.
when they say why?
Say, one for each face!
