It sounds like you could use a new service called Effortless Grading, it's cheap but does one hell of a job. www.effortlessgrading.net

After 35 years of teaching high school English, I know your pain! You didn't say how many students or classes you have, but one suggestion would be to grade for one class only per day. Of course, when the students figure this out, many will stop doing homework. You could have the students exchange papers and grade some portions in class. You could do a completion grade.
Many nights I graded from 4 until midnight.
I do believe it is imperative that you get graded papers back to students ASAP. If you don't, then it doesn't mean much to the students.
If you have someone else grading or helping you grade, you will not know who needs help to master the concept!

Because of confidentiality, we are not allowed to have students grade each other's work. You don't mention what you teach, but rubrics are a huge help. They allow you to set the expectations before hand and then just circle the criteria their work fits in to.

In a grad class I'm in now, research was presented that it is more beneficial to the students, and works as a higher motivator if you don't assign grades to everything and instead make good comments/suggestions. Now this could take just as long, but I just thought I'd put that out there.

Pay a former student, now out of high school. Don't grade everything. Very few experienced teachers do.

Check with your school, perhaps they can arrange for you to have an aide help with the grading if it is too much for you.
