There have been many historical events, too many to list on here, but some important events:
1998 - The Good Friday Agreement, aiming for more peace between Ireland and Northern Ireland
1998 - Power devolved from UK parliament to Scotland and Wales
2001 - 9/11 - triggering the war on terrorism with wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and also various other terrorist attacks since

911, 7/7 (July 7 bombings), war in Iraq, Pluto declared not a planet, gay marriage legalised in the UK, longest ever reigning UK govt. knocked out by a massive majority, top of the pops taken off air, Queen Mum turned 100- loads and loads, I think you need to be a bit more specific on which area you are looking at.
Oh, and I wouldn't normally correct grammar but as it is under 'homework help' , it should be which rather than what!

Well you've already been given some good answers, but you should do some research on these events, look them up on Search Engines or go to a newspaper's website and look up old editions. You'll get a much better understanding of your homework if you do some of the work and research yourself.
