So when shopping for maternity clothing how do you know what size you are if you order jeans online? I’m a size 5 and in jeans a size 27-28 how does it work for maternity clothing? :)

How would you determine your size?

I was actually just looking that up today and it looks like whatever size you were before, you would want to buy the same size in maternity. There should be a box on the website for sizing that should explain to you which size to look for, but all of the ones I looked at (Target, Old Navy, etc) said maternity would be the same size as your normal clothes.

i wouldn't recommend shopping for maternity clothes online. I would rather try them on because maternity clothes (especially pants) don't always look fashionable to begin with, so it might be better to use the trial and error method with the jeans. shirts are not as tricky. I was a size 5 and wore some xs maternity pants that had the really comfortable, stretchy cloth lining around the top of the pants. good luck with finding the best size.

In the United States, your maternity clothing size is the same as your regular clothing unless you are gaining a lot of weight and then you may have to buy a bigger size. Maternity clothes are designed for your increasing body size and will have built in ways, such as adjustable snaps or stretchy tummy panels, to make you feel comfortable for most of your pregnancy. As a mom who has had 4 kids, I always found about 6 weeks before my due date that nothing really seemed to fit me comfortably. But, by then, everything you do is uncomfortable as well.

In the UK maternity wear is sized the same way as normal clothing. You just buy your usual size.

If your going for proper maternity clothes then get the same size as normal...they adapt them to how (on average) a woman of that size would develop). Happy shopping - stick it out with pride....no baggy smocks.

Just go with "normal" sizes---sounds like you and I measure about the same. Right now I'm 13wks (early I know) and in size Small maternity pants. I figure I may have to move up to medium later, but during my last pregnancy it was between small and medium throughout the whole nine months.
