Contact your ex, she can ask them to drop it but she has to contact them. I know people who have done this.

Get you an attorney. They should have been taking out of your paycheck what she was entitled to all those years your son was growing up. It doesn't come out of their pocket and they come and say you owe this much, plus interest. Something must have went wrong. Even if it was back child support owed, I've never heard tell of interest building up on it. Maybe your in some type of scam and don't even realize it. A lawyer is expensive, but would have to be cheaper in the long run. Don't wait to seek help, you could end up broke! Hope this helped, and Good luck

That rate of interest appears to be wrong. Check with your state law to get the correct information on this supposed "rate of interest", figure it based on the state law, and consult with a reputable attorney. Initial consultation shouldn't cost much, if anything, and if you have all the information in front of you and the attorney, you should get direction from the attorney.

Also, if a judge has caused an unlawful problem for you by issuing a judgment that went against the state law, you can complain about him/her to the Appelate Division (state level) or "court of Appeals".

i am in similar situation. i didn't pay support in 81. economy was bad, jobs not available. i was laid off 11 months in 81. my exwife went to maui for two weeks that year. it was 92 when they mentioned arrears. they had compounded the compound interest. i started paying. in 94, exwife died. i quit paying. they dragged me back to court. i asked if i did pay it, who gets it? they said my exwife would. i told them that the cemetery doesn't have good stores. after i explained her death and supplied death certificate, they decided i owed the state. i still pay every week but interest goes up faster than payments. the thing i hate most is twice a year, they deduct $70 for disbursement fees-money to send money to parent. i pay the state to pay the state. good luck to you. hope yours is better than mine.

HAVE YOUR EX-WIFE SIGN AN AMMENDMENT TO THE COURT THAT SHE ABSOLVES THE CHILD SUPPORT.
