Is it possible to be best friends with a member of the opposite sex?
What if they are both married? Does that change anything?

My best friend is a member of the opposite sex; hes 16 and I'm 26. (Anyone know a weirder case than mine? LOL) I'm married and he likes someone; and this doesnt change anything cuz our freindship is totally wonderful not to mention clean and straight. I personally think a man can call a woman his best friend and mean it.

Yes a man can call a woman his best friend and mean it. If they were both married, it would really depend on how happy each of them are in their marriage.

If the woman is not happy in her marriage, the man will (as being a provider) want to change that situation. If he has any feelings for her, that's when he will find them (provided she has some feelings for him).

If the man is unhappy in his marriage, then the man may do certain overt and covert things to get out of the marriage - generally that entails having sex with a good friend - which can really mess things up. If the woman wants to remain good friends with the man, she has to be clear that that wil not be a possible situation.

Yes, it is possible to be best friends with the opposite sex. But, if your married your partner should be your best friend and if not, than there is some problems in that relationship.

They can be best friends if they were friends maybe during high school or just a little after. The point is before the relationship with the other person commenced. As far as making male friends while married, kind of impossible if you don't want to fall for that person, cuz that's how a lot of affairs happen!

I've had 2 very close female friends in different jobs and we got along great. Both came at different times in my life, one when I was "single" but with a girlfriend and the other when I was married. Never had a problem, just very good friends. Be careful, sometimes you may "play around" without any intentions and end up with something else. That happened to me too.

yes a man can have a woman that he is best friends with and have no strings attached and not even be attracted to her in that way. it will all depend on wether or not the spouses of this man and woman are jealous. if they are jealous it will change a lot and could possibly end a marriage and one that could have been a great marriage. if there is trust issues or one is jealous seek counseling this should help a little.

The person you are married to should be your best friend. A best friend of the opposite sex will lead to trouble. A man wanting to soley be friends with you has intentions. If you are not couple friends then it is not healthy.

My best friend is a guy, and it's wonderful. He's very sweet, and he appreciates me. The only reason we don't date is because we don't live by each other.

Neither of us are married because he is 18 and I am 17, but I wouldn't be surprised if we lived close to each other and got married in the future.

Also, my mom and my dad are no longer together, and my mom remarried.... but my mom and my dad are really good friends still.

If they're both married, sure...they can be best friends, provided their spouses also approve of their relationship and is not threatened by them.

When I was single, I became best friends with a man for 6 yrs before marrying him.

ofcourse men can have bestfriends off opp. sex there is nothing wrong with that, and the only thing that being married changes in a friendship is you may not be able to see your friends as much ,what it boils down to is do you trust your man ,why don't you invite them over to dinner some time and get to know her , and if you do trust him and his judgement then everything usually works out, good luck
