My mother n law told me that her kids use to get chiggers when they were younger, and it not because they were dirty.
If you are outside alot esp.in grass and such like farms its easy to get chiggers.
She told me that she use to take finger nail polish or something similar and dab some on the chigger bite and it suffocates the bug and kills its.
Don't listen to people on here that make rude and stupid remarks.
Good Luck.

Wash all of her cloths and linin (and dry in the dryer on hot setting). Also thoroughly clean or change her mattress and all bedding ~~ ALL BEDDING ~~ spray the house with some sort of bug killer (please go to another home for a few days), clean the carpet, sweep and mop floors, and above all, keep the child changed often and clean (which I assume you do already). The child could have gotten chiggers from somewhere other than your home (another home, another person or child, etc). If the child has a lot of breaking out or a bad rash, I would suggest taking the child to a doctor. Good luck!

A skin infestation, common in the southern United States, caused by the larva of the red mite (harvest mite). Features include an itchy red rash to the waist, ankle and skin folds. No specific treatment is necessary as the rash will resolve spontaneously. Antihistamines can be used to control itching.

There's a product you can buy at your local drug store called Chigger-rid. It's basically clear nail polish. Everywhere she has a bite, you put a drop of this stuff on her skin. It seals off the opening the chigger used to get in, and suffocates it. I'd use clear nail polish though...it'll dry quicker and costs a heck of a lot less. If she has sensitive skin, you should ask her pediatrician before using it.

Caladryl lotion would help the itching.

The insects are gone by the time you see the marks.

The lotion will relieve, protect and clear up the rash.

According to the label, It's recommended that you ask your doctor before applying onto children under 2 years.

Not sure. Chiggars aren't like regular bug bites because the chiggars actually get under the skin. Go to a pharmacy and ask someone behind the counter what you can do for chiggars.

Unfortunately, not a lot. Like mosquito bites, the red bumps are from the bites, not the critters themselves.

Calamine lotion will reduce the itching.

Cover them with nail polish. It will smother them and they will die and go away.
