I heard a story about a guy that does it all the time. I don't know if it's true, and I'm not about to just try it! Can someone give me some proof that it works?

Yep. It doesn't harm you, because it burns all the glue, and once it has done that, it doesn't have any more fuel and burns out. The only danger is at the very end, where it might burn you a little right before it flares out.

anything flamable will work like that, the only drawback ... once the fire consumes the product, it will burn you. So, you can try it if you want (I used to do as a magic trick for my little brothers and sisters), just as soon as you feel any warmth ... put it out. Have a nice day and be safe.
