Why would a 'religious' organization whose only interest is reeling in the dough get tax exempt status? Do they? Does anyone have a webste to prove their answer?

Marion "Pat" Robertson is also very upset about losing his tax-exempt status for his political machine, the Christian Coalition. The Coalition hands out millions of voter "guides" to tell the Christian faithful which candidates voted along with its agenda and which did not. They had been doing this under the guise of "religion." But now, with a recent IRS ruling, they must start paying taxes!

Don't think this is the same thing as the 700 Club...
Different article- talking about some shake that Robertson supposedly marketed thru the 700 Club to help fat people lose weight....
But Davis said CBN will have to present records and explain why this wasn't a commercial endeavor. If a tax-exempt organization uses its assets for the private benefit of a company like GNC, it is subject to losing its tax-exempt status, he said.

"If he was talking to a patent attorney in 2002 and he was talking about it on 'The 700 Club' -- I'm not suggesting CBN paid for the patent application, but if you're the guy who runs 'The 700 Club', you're on TV all the time, there are people watching this ... if he's been using that bully pulpit for his personal commercial gain or the gain of GNC, then he's going to get popped for that," Davis said.

I would assume that since this article was written, they still ahve tax exempt status. Can't find anything recent. And I agree - it should not be allowed.

They shouldn't get tax exempt status, as they are nothing more than a mouth piece for George Bush and the GOP.
