When my babe is in a bitey mood, I do a few things:

-I keep a close eye on her at the beginning and end of feedings. She can't bite if she's actually nursing (the mechanics don't work) so those are the likely times.

-I also keep an eye on her if she's very tired; also a big bitey time

-if she does bite, I smush her head down into my breast (firmly but not hard- don't hurt your baby!). This forces her to release me and either nurse again or let go altogether- plus, she doesn't like it.

Good luck. Biting sucks. Check out the link for more good advice. :)

Every time she does, don't yell or do anything that makes it too obvious that it hurt, because then the child will think its funny and do it again and again. You're supposed to take your finger, stick it in her mouth, pull the suction off your breast, put her down somewhere and come back in 15 minutes and try again. That will teach her that each time she bites, your going to stop feeding her.

They have some wonderful teething tablets out now that can sooth the childs gums so they can nurse properly. Or you can give they child some oregel to sooth the gums also.
