if it pads only, then you can expect around $150. if it's pads and rotors, expect over $400. they will also check your rear brakes too. depending on whether you have drum or rotors brakes in the back will make a difference as well. you may not think they need to be checked but they do. if they're drum brakes, they are quite inefficient but cheaper to maintain. rotor brakes work better but are more expensive to maintain. if the rear brakes are drums, most likely they'll need to be cleaned and realigned. if they are rotor brakes then it will be the same deal as the front so expect double the costs. worst case scenario, assume about $800, best case expect about 300-350 for all four brakes pads.if you go to Midas they have lifetime replacements on your pads. this saves you about $50 per wheel, assuming they are rotor brakes, for the life of the car. you'll still pay ,labor and any additional parts but this will help lower the costs each time since you'll be getting free brake pads essentially.

Well, you get what you pay for, if you took your car to midas they may have given you substandard parts. It sounds like this place used good parts. As for them telling you your rear brakes were fine, they were probally right. They checked and saw your pads had plenty of life in them, that everything there was in good condition, ect. As for what happened on the freeway today, I have no clue, 3 months is a long time, you cant blame anything on the shop, it is probally a new issue. But let this be a lesson to you, when you feel there is a problem with your car, check it out asap! Expecially steering/suspension problems, its fine if your engine or transmission act up, but if your brakes feel spongy you're putting others at risk!

for new pads.. usually less than 60 bucks.. but saturns are expensive.. just go to a dealer such as autosense, napa, etc.. they order noname brand cheap.. like 18$ for a set for my firefly.
change them yourself and save yourself a hundred bucks as well.
