First- I AM NOT TRYING TO SELL ANIMALS TO LABS MYSELF! My problem is that there are some 5 month old stray cats in my neighborhood which I've become very attached to and would like to try to find homes for. I can not find a local shelter that will take these cats since they are technically feral. They have become very trusting of me and allow me to pet them since I feed them daily. I am willing to use my own money to have them spayed / vaccinated, and would like to find homes for them afterward.

However, I know that it's bad to offer free animals, because people will take them just to sell to research labs. I would like to ask for a small fee, which I will then donate to the ASPCA or other such organization. My only problem is that I don't want to ask for too much money, otherwise people won't want to take them. Does anyone have any information that can help? I am in central Jersey if that matters. Please do not recommend an org. unless you know they take strays.

Just an addition- I started feeding them when the mother abandoned them. They were barely 3 months old. I am concerned about doing trap / neuter / release because I am worried that they are already too dependent on me. I can not keep them myself because my dog will chase them.

its so sweet that your trying to help, they probably would have died if you didn't. i only know that farms always take cats = we have had 30 cats in the barn and we couldn't keep them because we had 20 already (which is moms limit)so we gave them to other farms. farms like them cuz they eat the mice and are great companions. try looking for some farms out in the country and asking if they want them. they would probably expect that they are free and that way they will get a good home and wont be sent to a lab. hope that helps.

I cannot imagine a reputable research lab that would take a chance on buying or even taking for free stray dogs or cats. They do buy animals from shelters for specific research such as flea/tick remedies and to test dog and cat specific medications.

If you want to take care of these animals then take them to a shelter and give the shelter the money to get them spayed/nuetered. They will find decent homes for the kittens. Do it soon though, the younger (and cuter) they are-the better their chance to be adopted.

after 2 years.. the cat isnt a stray.. infact even 2 years in the past it wasnt a stray.. it develop into an abandoned cat on the on the spot you need to have referred to as the interior reach guard or taken it to them.. and suggested your neighbours for animal abandonment... save the mum.. get rid of the kittens.. mom will be euthanized.. at that age she has no desire for adoption.. in spite of the undeniable fact that the kittens do.. take the kittens to the interior reach guard.. and resign them.. do not provide them away "loose TO sturdy abode" maximum of those are not getting sturdy houses.. many are offered to study Labs (rather if you're contained in the u . s .) or are used to coach unlawful combating canines to kill or are loose snake nutrition.. the human beings will look valuable even as they get the loose kitten.. they recognize the way it fairly works.. shelters demonstrate skill new proprietors in case you adore the mum.. help her.. she has no desire of being followed..
