Both my ears are clogged so I can hardly hear. I can't pop them and my doctor gave me an antibiotic to take. But it's been 10 days now, and no luck. Any suggestions?

Afrin sinus spray and sudafed together will open up your sinuses which is why you can't hear. I lost my hearing completely for 6 months one time due to a sinus infection and when it finally came back I only have about 40% of my hearing in my right ear and 80% in my left. Also, lay your head on the table with one ear facing up and put a few drops of hydrogen peroxide in the ear canal. Let it fizz for a few minutes then tip you head over, drain it, and put some more in it. It doesn't hurt and kind of tickles a little. I get this problem all the time and I hate it. Antibiotics alone won't get rid of the congestion.

Did the doctor check for ear wax? we all get it once in a while?

Also if you have mild pain running from your ears down the side of your neck, your Eustachian tubes may be blocked (congested). If so, take some sudafed tablets. Just follow the directions (30 mg tablets). Side effects will make you groggy or tired (do not drive or operate machinery etc.) They definitely will open you up and relieve the pain. Do not exceed
the recommended amount! Buy the generic brand. It's the same thing as the brand name, but about 1/3 cheaper. If this does not work, you may have to ask your doctor for another more powerful antibiotic such as ciprofloxacin. Good luck!

I have a son, Joey Niceforo, who is a young 27 year old tenor, with a group called "DESTINO" recording in Vancouver Bc, Canada.

For the last few weeks Joey has had a cold. Just a few days ago he developed an ear ache, a swollen ear and loss of hearing. He was diagnosed with serous otitis media (middle ear infection).

The major concern we have is that Joey and the Group DESTINO have been booked to open the Marie Osmond show in Disney World on April 3,

Have a quick remedy for our son??

Joey's ear got better just before flying.

He also got the special ear plugs for flying, and arrived in Florida, from Vancouver, on April 1st. On April 2nd he told us the ear was almost 100 percent, and he will, with the other, great DESTINO tenors be performing, in the COLORADO BALL ROOM DISNEY WORLD tonight at 7 pm.

This help was so effective, and helpful, to our young Canadian tenor, Joey Niceforo. I'm sure this input and therapy advice will, and has helped others.

yep, it is because your middle ear cannot adjust the pressure to the outside atmosphere which then disrupts your eardrum. There is a tube from the back of your throata little ways above your tongue that runs from there to your middle ear called the eustachian tube. During a sinus infection the tissue near this tube enlarged due to inflammation and keep the tube closed (it is normally closed) and unable to open to adjust pressures. Without the ability to adjust pressure your eardrum could rupture, in extreme cases. This is why kids and infants sometimes have ear pain while flying. I lot of people can manually open their eustachian tubes by open there mouths a certain way. You may even here a little crackle type sound when this happens. From wikipedia "Pressure differences cause temporary conductive hearing loss by decreased motion of the tympanic membrane and ossicles of the ear"

Yes, I have. Try taking a decongestant such as Sudafed. If you still have problems, call your doctor.
