no you will need to replace the crank and no you wont need a new motor you will need new bearings the way the crank is bolted in it did not hurt the block just the bearing you dont need to have anything ground or bored all you need is the crank and bearings and the seals and gaskets for the oil pan

Get the bearing journals metal sprayed and reground and replace big end shells and bearings. If the crankshaft has broken in half, it is not repairable.
Most importantly, find out cause of damage before you refit.
It may well be cheaper to investigate the cost of a reconditioned engine.

It's true, this may cost more than the van is worth. Oil leaking from the timing belt cover could cam seal or front main seal. Either way, it's basically a timing belt job. $600. Rear main seal means the transmission has to come off, another $400.

if the crankshaft is the only problem then go and buy a new crankshaft for your van. they should still sell '84's. i hit a sledge hammer with my riding lawnmower and broke the crankshaft. i fixed it.

It can't be fixed but you could get a new one but with that you will need your engine to be line bored so you have good oil pressure and there are lots of other machine cost so I'de say the smartest way to go would be get a new engine if you can afford one.

if it is actually broke ( unlikely ) you will have other major damage and need a new short block - more than likely it was damaged then it must be replaced- but without a better description you need a mechanic to diagnose the problem IN PERSON
