Have you rebooted with same results? If so mcafee is not my pick but good enough not to miss by that much.
You might try defrag your drive. Is it a compressed drive? Go to my computer , is it reading your drive right? if so check settings in mcafee one more time.
if it was working I would uninstall and reaload it. Something isnt jiveing but guess you know that :)

You gotta check yr antivirus settings ... there's different levels of scans and there's a menu where you can select what types of files to exclude from scanning. A "basic" or a "custom" scan may only be set to scan yr registry, system files, start up files, cookies, internet history etc. and that can easily account for ignoring half yr actual hard disk files.

Check the scanning options you have set.

Maybe you have it set to ignore some folders or file types?

You probably need to use something like Full System Scan or whatever.. I don't use Macafee, I find AVG superb and it's free too.

OK, it is not scanning properly or is not counting some sub files...three letters that saved me: AVG, it is free, and protects like no other!

Both McAfee and Norton are crap!!!
The best one I have found so far is PC Pitstop Exterminate.
