Romeo is 16, but for Juliet there seems to be some confusion about her age.

Juliet was under 14 years old. Shakespeare altered the story changing her from the age of 16 to just under 14 because back then prepubescent males would play the roll of a young girl in the theaters.

Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet was derived from an italian poem entitled "The Tragicall History of Romeus and Juliet" in which Juliet's original age was 16. Hence all of the confusion associated with her age.

I believe his estimated age is around 15 or 16 years old. Can you believe that when the Shakespeare play was first performed, the part of Romeo was played by a tall, heavy set man in his 40's? I got a kick out of that when I read about it!
