Why ask such a question ? Eric Clapton ranks up there as one of the best ever. You don't stay at the top of the music scene if you are just mediocre. Long live the
"reptile." People in the UK know 'reptile' is a term of endearment.

John Lee hooker - best blues
Peter Frampton / Roger Walters
Jimmy page / Jimi hendrix - legends
Clapton was good and Cocoaine was a cracking riff, however no where near the best

eric clapton is a good person and a sweet azz guitar player but no he s not god i m pretty sure if he was his son would not have died

Stop. So many better guitarists out there. Jimmy Page, Randy Rhoads, Stevie Ray Vaughn. But I do love Clapton's music too!!

No, of course he's not God. But he's a great guitar player -- It's easy to forget that he was the first UK guitar player to play in that style. He had access to John Mayall's incredible imported record collection, and listened to styles that other contemporary players had never heard. I can't understand why anyone would want to knock him.
