Some of the traditions yes. I speak English and my heritage is English, Irish, and Scottish.

I know which clan I belong to in my Scottish background and though far removed from those roots (1760s), I still have the red hair and green eyes that seem to be stereotypical.

Yep.

The only thing I don't do is speak the language of my father outside of his family. I carry the traditional sun crosses of his people and observe the customs and practices of that side of the family when I am among them. I even have the ceremonial black knives (sgian dubh) and wear the tartan.

On the English side I am very familiar with my heritage.

My dad's side of the family is from Scotland, my mom's from Ireland and England. We've been in the US for many generations. So, no, I am an American, not a Scottish, Irish, English American. And, even though I am somewhat educated in the customs, language, music and speech of my ancestors, I practice very little of it. I hate the food they ate, yuck!!!! Irish and Scottish Gaelic are very hard to learn, but I love the music and listen to it often.
