Interesting responses (i've read down the list)
It seems that there are a number of Bush supporters that believe that the people who hate Bush are all a bunch of wacko left wing liberals that are distorted by the left wing media.

No. I've been a registered republican for over 20 years, and I'm furious at how the religious right hijacked my party. Being against the current administration's incredible fiscal irresponsibility isn't a disagreement from the left, it's from what used to be the republican party.

Bush's 'you're either with me or against me' and unabashed 'I don't need to listen to you if you don't support me' is, well, rather childish for a president. Sure, we've had more evil men in office (Nixon), but not anyone who's policies will prove to be more foolish. How much evidence will it take for even the Bush supporters to realize he messed up big time with this Iraq thing (A trillion dollars later). We'll kick ourselves about how stupid we were not to treat gay people as equals, and the national debt will be ultimately bringing our economy to its knees in upcoming years.

Where is the republican party that should be addressing the future of Social Security? they're cutting deals with the drug companies to make sure that medicare doesn't get any discounts (unlike the Canadians)?

No- I am furious at Bush for not acting like a Republican- but rather a man with his hands in the pockets of oil companies, drug companies and the religious right.

Perhaps, but its becoming worse due to the liberal media. Everyday they do and say anything ONLY to be against what Bush says, no matter if its right or wrong. Everything is so political. I find it strange and harmful to America how so many call Bush an idiot or a loser, yet who else would you want in office that has the determination to fight terrorism, make our country safer, and the world safer. The man probably wakes up every day thinking 'what can i do to kill more terrorists today?' He has not flip flopped and he stands firm on what he believe to make us safer and to fight terrorism. Sure he has made mistakes, um hes HUMAN. But all this backlash against him is mostly political. People like that jack *** Sean Penn and Alec Baldwin, or the lame asss Dixie Chicks. Lol they are fools trying to use thier status to pubically humiliate our president. They should be ashamed of themselves. The funny thing is many who oppose Bush have no answers them selves. THey just say things like Bush is horrible yet offer no way they would do something different. Everyones response is the war in Iraq is wrong blah blah blah. Yet nothing else intelligent comes from thier mouths.
Should the war in Iraq happened? Maybe maybe not but wil the intelligence we had at the time we couldnt sit and do nothing. What if we did nothing and that intelligence was really all true?
And look at all the Islamic terrorists that have come out the wood works in Iraq, and the world for that matter, in the past few years. Something needed to be done. We are trying to liberate Iraq and fight terrorism on thier own grounds. We have stopped potentionally drastic attacks since 9/11 because of Bush and the war in Iraq and his policies in place that Dems are against.

He could not have been hated too much he was elected to two terms of office. If you are speaking as a Muslim, then his dad is probably included to. Hate is a pretty strong word, I think it is more fair to say that you don't care for his politics, but you can say that about most polititians. You will grow old early if you let hate control your life. Look on the bright side, there is only a little over two years left, then you better hope his brother from Florida does not decide to run. It is like gambling, you are just going to have to play the hand you are dealt, not all hand are loosers.

Lincoln, and like Bush, he was re-elected. Just as many people "love" Bush as "hate" him. Great leaders polarize many folks, and that may be what you are witnessing. A lot of folks "hated" Reagan, but do not remember it quite like that today.

Absolutely there has been. The problem now is that many liberals and uninformed and misled people dislike President Bush because they listen to the one-sided liberal media who don't even flinch when they report false items about the president. (remember Dan Rather's false report that lead to his being invited to leave CBS in disgrace?) Most newscasters don't get in trouble for their false reporting like Rather did. And many people blame the president for "starting a war" but let's think back to who really started the war. The 9/11 attack on America was an act of war that killed thousands of our innocent citizens and robbed their families and friends of those they loved. America had been attacked before but President Reagan and President Clinton turned their heads. Only President Bush had the fortitude and moral integrity to respond appropriately to the worldwide threat of terrorism. Of course he's made mistakes along the way. He acted in good faith on reports that were not correct and he's taken the heat for the mistakes of others. But he is doing his best every day to protect American citizens from another attack. And for five years it has worked! He's taken Sadaam Hussein out of a spider hole and he's on trial for the mass killings of his own people in which he used weapons of mass destruction. Usama Bin Laden is hiding in caves. Al Zarquia is dead thanks to our soldiers. Iraq was a dangerous place with a dangerous man terrorizing his own people. President Bush has refused to negotiate with terrorists and so he should.
Let's think back to a president who deserved the disdain of the American people...Richard Nixon...one of the biggest crooks to ever sit in the Oval Office. He lied to the American people. (President Bush hasn't but people like to say he has). Nixon was up to his armpits in the Watergate break-in and he lied about that. He erased tapes; he destroyed evidence; he was forced to resign in disgrace and several of his staff went to prison for the crimes he had them commit. Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves and so divided the country that he was assassinated. His heart was in the right place to want freedom for all but he lacked the farsightedness to realize that it's not enough to free people unless they are freed to something better. The slaves had a terrible time after they were freed without the skills they needed to better themselves and many of our black citizens still today feel the sting of racism because of Lincoln's lack of long-range planning. Harry Truman was disliked and made fun of when he was president. History has proven he was a fine and decent man.
It's acceptable to dislike a president but it's important to know WHY and most of the people who are so verbally abusive of President Bush don't have the facts; they like sheep have been led astray by a bunch of radical liberals who spout lies and innuendoes without regard for the truth.
