There are gigs and open mic nights every night in Glasgow with some being free for example in places like Box in Sauchiehall Street, so you are spoiled for choices as far as live music is concerned. Although it is mostly rock-oriented and I've not seen much hip hop and r&b unless they are established artists in massive venues.

Glasgow has an amazing music scene, where else can you find King Tut's Wah Wah Hut where among others Oasis where discovered
