Hello Estranged,
I'm sure you're right and that in the future we will have to take the consequences of our actions.. Also computers and microwaves could be a problem. I have taken to using the computer with a wrapping of Aluminium foil, with just my little hands and nose and eyes looking out. I have actually got rid of the microwave for slower cooking and have to take Ginko biloba to counteract the Aluminium foil

Every time we use our mobile phones, we get an earful of what's called "radio frequency", or "microwave" radiation. Some of the radiation is absorbed by our body tissue. The radiation is enough to make tissue molecules vibrate and increase in temperature by a fraction of a degree. But it's so small we're not even aware of it. International guidelines seek to ensure that exposure is kept below that level. All mobile phones sold in the UK meet these guidelines.
The balance of current research evidence suggests that exposures to radio waves below levels set out in international guidelines do not cause health problems for the general population. However, there is some evidence that changes in brain activity can occur below these guidelines, but it isn't clear why. There are significant gaps in our scientific knowledge.
"a precautionary approach" is recommended to the use of mobile phones until more research findings become available. If you use a mobile phone, you can choose to minimise your exposure to radio waves. These are ways to do so:
keep your calls short
consider relative Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) values when buying a new phone
you must not use a mobile phone when driving
Young people using mobile phones has obvious attractions for personal security and keeping in touch with others. Parents and young people should make their own informed choices about the use of mobile phones. Because the head and nervous system are still developing into the teenage years, if there are any unrecognised health risks from mobile phone use, then children and young people might be more vulnerable than adults.
The expert group has therefore recommended that in line with a precautionary approach, the widespread use of mobile phones by children (under the age of 16) should be discouraged for non-essential calls.
In the light of this recommendation the UK Chief Medical Officers strongly advise that where children and young people do use mobile phones, they should be encouraged to:
use mobile phones for essential purposes only
keep all calls short - talking for long periods prolongs exposure and should be discouraged
The UK Community Medical Officers recommend that if parents want to avoid their children being subject to any possible risk that might be identified in the future, the way to do so is to exercise their choice not to let their children use mobile phones.
There is additional evidence to show that mobile phones can be bad for your back! The human body is designed to exhale when our feet touch the ground. This helps to protect the spine from sudden jolts. However, talking and walking at the same time disrupts this breathing pattern, leaving the spine exposed. Physiotherapists also warn that too much texting can be bad for your fingers! They insist that the repetitive movements involved in texting messages on a mobile phone can cause injuries to hands, wrists and arms.
Finally mobile phones are definite killers if you insist on using them while driving, cycling or crossing the road!!! seriously, recent research has shown that mobile phones will affect your ability to focus and attend to driving by making undue demands on your attention leading to distractibility, poor driving and leading to a higher rate of accidents.

Ignoring the fact that they may be 'microwaving' your brain for a moment, they are dangerous if only in the hands of morons like the one I saw this morning turning a very large heavy lorry into a busy junction whilst TEXT MESSAGING!
And regards smoking; maybe mobile phones (and cybermen bluetooth headsets) will be the habit we are all forced to give up in the future; they believed cigarettes were 'good' for your health 100 years ago!

Mobile systitis is fast becoming an epidemic which the government is extremely concerned about.
Being an mp I know first hand how the government are keeping tabs on this situation.
Systs are developing in areas which are in contact with the phone for prolonged periods, craniums, abdomens (suit pockets) and quadriceps(trouser pockets) have all been affected, with fatigue and flu like symptoms kicking in many of these cases have been labelled depression this is complete hogwash.
Also this is a conspiracy I could lose my job over if I were to speak out in public about with my true name!

Extensive research has been conducted on the possible harzadous effect of mobile phones, however, it was discovered that mobile phones is not in anyway detrimental to your health.
However, mobile phones have been found to be the cause of increase in blood pressure and instability of some people - this is not physiological, rather it is more emotional.
This usually happens when you become addicted to it, its like you never can have some time to yourself. This leads to some sort of emotional breakdown.
Also, like drink driving, receiving calls while driving causes fatal accidents.
In all this however, we will all agree that the advantages far outweighs the disadvantages

I don't know about permanent brain damage but it does cause short term brain damage. Just look how people drive while on the phone and don't pay attention to the road or other cars. They may as well be driving drunk!
