I live in an island and you can imagine we find lots of interesting bugs. I have recently found one in my condo that resembled a piece of tree bark or dirt. We were totally shocked when it started moving. I woud like to identify the bug but don't know where are how to begin. Any ideas?

I checked Tree Bark Beetle and it's not it. the bug I have is flat and when it moves a little head comes out of the end and pushes itsef along. the head is slimy, not eyes, slender.

It's called a tree bark beetle.
