Oh, he really exists and if you look hard enough you might even see his footprints! ... But don't gaze at the moon if you wanna feel his love - your heart is much closer.

Looking for the Man in the Moon is like looking for things like the Big Dipper or Orion's Belt. If you look long enough and the moon, you will start to see figures that might resemble a human face. Check out the diagrams on Wikipedia at the link below.

The man in the moon is simply the way the ancients viewed the patterns of the blueish-gray areas of the moon's surface. To them it appeared as though there was a face, hence, the man in the moon came into existence.

If you look real close you'll see that it is not a Man in the Moon afterall, but a Rabbit washing dishes upside-down (or sideways at times).
And, it is indeed made of cheese, however, there is a debate as to whether it is Wensleydale or gorgonzola. Some people have even speculated Herrgardsost and Macconais, but they are clearly mistaken. Anyone who knows anything would agree that it would have to be either Oschtjepka or pecorino.

The man in the moon was started because someone thought that when you look at the moon, the shape of the craters (lights and darks) seemed to look like a face. If you look at the moon you can sort of see what the meant.

He really exists. But he doesn't live on the moon anymore. He used to live there with the tooth-fairy, but since Santa Clause moved to the North Pole they moved in with him overthere. They have better TV there and also it's better for shopping and they have lots of fun with polar bears.

It's just craters or something similar that give that "man in the moon" appearance. And it's not really made of cheese, either. It's all rock.

No man in the moon. Sorry.
Man (human being) has been on the moon but they all came back, no man left behind.
