The only thing Gordon Brown has been good at for the last ten years has been putting up taxes. Mostly in an extremely, sneaky way. Anyone who thinks this qualifies him to be PM must be nuts.
Blair is useless, he has made me ashamed of being British. Brown is also useless. They are both hypocrites.
What gives Brown the right to think that he is the automatic successor to the PM? This is an arrogance beyond belief and an insult to the electorate. You are right, when Blair retires there should be a Labour Party, leadership election followed by an immediate General Election. Of course this won't happen.

No I don't think so, Tony Blair has basically taken the p*ss out of him for the last few years, afraid to step aside for fear Brown will over-shadow him!
He is forced by party to get behind a leadership I think even he knows is ensuring that the Labour Party NEVER gets re-elected again; how would you feel?

Yes he is. Now Blair has confirmed his departure, Brown can relax, smile and focus on his public image in order to be PM. And let's be honest: he's got quite a bit of work to do. He will be PM as he will be leader of the largest parliamentary party. We do not directly elect the Prime Minister here in the UK. Thats the way it works.

Brown has done his time and the legwork, and feels he deserves a shot at the top job. He's not a statesman but that does'nt discount him from being a good decisionmaker. The economy was Brown's baby and his possible inheritance of the top job has to be based on that alone. It depends on how you rate his achievements and mistakes, which are many.
Hypocrite? He's a lot of things but that's not something I'd accuse him of. He's the best bet labour have for survival. The conservatives have a lot of work and communication to do before they are up to the challenge.

I don't mind him really. And there's no reason why he shouldn't be PM without a general election because in this country we vote for the party not the leader. It's unlikely now that he won't face a leadership contest anyway. My money's on Milliband. Whoever it is will only have 3 years before the next election anyway.

Gordon Brown is a Scot as is Tony Blair, as is Reid and lots of others in this Government. They are all hypocrits, they wear trousers when in England, when they go over the border (wish they would stay there when they do) they change into skirts. Wierdos, they don`t seem to know what sex they are.

he is a bloody optamist if he thinks that was a good TUC address, Blair got torn a new hole to crap from.
As for brown being pm, the fact of the matter is trhat in an election you vote for the member of parlaiment in your local constituency from the party of your choice (even Veritas if you must,) from the elected members, the dominant party then chooses who they want as their leader according to their party rules, that leader becomes prime minister. This seperates our system from the american one where they vote for who they want to be president,
If you want a say in who takes over, sign up to the labour party and use your vote

Yes he is a politician. Blair is only trying to look good to get into number 10. Once in he will return to be his old cold two faced self.
