Burned out bulb perhaps? Fuse blown perhaps? once you've been employing with the brake on, as you suggested, then you actually've probable worn down the rear brake linings really undesirable and may examine to be sure in the experience that they prefer replace. once the linings are sturdy then this is only a count number of replacing the park brake cable so as that the truck would not bypass with the parking brake utilized. yet, once you've rear drum brakes, this is going to nonetheless bypass in opposite with the parking brake engaged. impressive guess is to get right into a habit of freeing the brake. try putting a large word on the solar visor to remind your self and help construct the habit.

What doesn't work? Is it that they won't hold? Or is it that the pedal won't stay depressed?
If it is the pedal, there is a spring missing or broken at the ratchet pawl. It is a cheap repair that you can do yourself.
If it is that they won't hold, there are a myriad of reasons for this.
A Kinked cable, a seized spreader bar, or if you have 4-wheel disk, the parking mechanism may be damaged or worn beyond contact. You will need to take it in to the repair shop for this repair.

Good Luck
