He smacked a girl on the butt with a flip flop, and the school called the police. This harassment bit has gone too far now. Don't you think? An 8 year old who has never been in trouble before.

yeah it's kind of like calling the police because they have tylenol and charging them with drug possession. or like when my son was a teenager, he wore a necklace that looked like a dagger (plastic/painted silver) and one the the cops at school arrested him and took him to juvenile. they arrested him for possession of a weapon on school property, which is a felony. the courts did a deferred ajudication, for six months. it was all totally ridiculous, the principal had even seen it on him earlier that day and commented on it (nothing negative). when our attorney met with the district attorney, they said they would do a deferred ajudication on it if we let them keep the necklace. give me a break. if my son really wanted to hurt someone at school a pencil would have been a better weapon then this necklace, it was cheap plastic. the bad thing, which we did not know at the time, is because they did a deferred, it will alway be on his police record as a felony weapons charge. now if he gets stopped for even a tail light being out, guess what, he and his car are searched and I believe that this prior bogus charge can be the police's "Probable Cause" to search him and his vehicle. What a bunch of bullshit!
Oh, I heard about a elementary school girl who had a steak knife in her lunch box, (her mother put in) so she could cut her leftover steak at lunch time. She also was charged with a felony weapons charge. don't know what the outcome ever was.

The police??? When I was in school someone would have either gotten a warning not to hit, had to write 20 times "I will not hit girls on the bottom with flip flops," or if the hitting was a chronic problem the child would have been taken out into the hall and paddled. I have an 8 year old son too, and I can't imagine someone calling the police over something so stupid. Did the police laugh? I would have. And then they should have arrested whoever called them for making a false complaint.
Another reason I homeschool............

wow first of all he's very young and doesnt understand the thing that he has done wrong is considered that. he probably doesnt even know what sexual harassment is!. I cant believe that the school called the police on an 8 year old boy who hardly knows right from worng yet!. I think it was wrong of them to take matters into their own hands first rather than having a meeting with you and his tacher abotu what he did. whether he's been in trouble or not before it was wrong for the school to call the police before contacting you and dealing with what to do.

i would switch schools for him if I were you!!

That has definitely gone too far! I would pull my child out of that school so fast it would create a vacuum in the hallway. Then I would see a lawyer about filing a child abuse suit against the teacher that called the police under the definition: Child abuse and neglect is, at a minimum: Any recent act or failure to act on the part of a parent or caretaker which results in death, serious physical or EMOTIONAL HARM, sexual abuse or exploitation.

In right this moment's international it form of feels that one and all all people has to do is make allegations of somebody doing something and it runs down hill from there. My advice to you and your son do not make any further statements to those human beings in case you or your son are pressed to make statements or admit to doing something tell them you could not and take the 5th. you do not ought to speak on the grounds that's an request for forgiveness. except they intend on taking you to courtroom say not something. risk is this might blow over in time. tell your son you do not care what befell. interior the destiny he's to stay away from those human beings and don't be touching women persons era a minimum of till 18 as he's an person and it's always his challenge then.they're making a huge deal out of not something he might have in hassle-free terms bumped this individual and that they are overly gentle or they pick to set your son up for some reason. it does not be the 1st time a regulation in good shape became taken to courtroom via fact the human beings in contact observed of challenge to make some money. in the event that they intend to make a controversy approximately this get a legal expert and don't enable them to roll over on your son. in case you have not had problems with him interior the previous i might provide him the earnings of the doubt. yet i might make it very sparkling to him that form of habit merely isn't tolerated and he ought to understand greater valuable.

that's so ridiculous. i think you can prevent this by good measure in the future by telling your troubled child that if he punched her in the mouth he would get the death penalty. the really sad thing is regardless of the outcome it will still be on his record
