Melanocytes in the malpighian layer produce a pigment called 'melanin'. Melanin is also found in hair and in pigmented cells of the retina, though there is no relationship between the presence of those pigments and the ones produced in the skin.

Sebaceous glands produce a lipid-laden secretion called 'sebum' (which is Latin for 'tallow'). Good for water-proofing and getting acne.

Enjoy!
